I’m not a Family Caregiver….am I?

I met the sweetest woman at a conference I exhibited at last week. She said she wasn’t ‘really’ a family caregiver; you see her Mom lives in Utah, so she’s not there day to day. She went on to talk about things her Mom was experiencing, and she was at the conference to get some information to send to her. Before I said anything, I paused, looked at her in the eyes and then said, “I think you are a family caregiver.” She started to tear up.

Her story is my story and is the story of so many family caregivers. It doesn’t matter where you live or how much you do. If your life is affected in any way making decisions, taking care, running errands for a loved one or friend you are a family caregiver and your life has been changed.

That sweet woman, all of you, are the reason Breathing Spaces exists. Finding ways to support you on your undefined journey is my goal, and I am meeting with new companies weekly to make sure that is possible. As we gain more Affiliate Organizations, you will have a powerful place to be supported by resources, walks and webinars/seminars. There are products featured for you and your loved one right on the Breathing Spaces website, and if you need help whether you reach out by connecting to our Closed Facebook Group or emailing me, please feel free to do so. Don’t be afraid to speak out; it’s the worst thing you can do.

In the article How to Find Help- Tips for Caregivers and Loved Ones the author Kathi Kohl says; “Whatever you may need, put that request out there because if the need isn’t voiced, no one will know you need help.” Take a look; you might find some interesting information.

Be well,
Cyndi
