Finding Calm in the Face of Fear

Here we are, in the middle of unknown territory, perhaps feeling a bit like the earthy rug has been pulled out from underneath us. Do you feel nervous, scared, angry? You are surely not alone. There is an energetic shift taking place, and I will admit my fear has been higher than I anticipated. I wrangled it quickly because I know all too well it’s power. Fear weakens our immune system and can cause cardiovascular damage as well as gastrointestinal problems.

Boosting our immune systems by eating well and getting daily exercise is an essential part of our life, always, and even more so now. Practicing self-care is paramount, and our emotional balance plays a significant role in this, too. So now is the time to rely on each other emotionally. Reach out for help when you need it and give it freely; small acts of kindness will go a long way right now.

Here are a few things for you to try:

  • Take a walk daily. Focusing on the beauty of nature is a wonderful way to calm your mind. Be sure to acknowledge others you may see; a smile goes a long way.

  • Try a mindfulness technique. While in the shower, close your eyes and pull your attention to the center of your head (the part just behind your eyes). Envision a golden light above your head and see that flowing down through the center of your body. Focus on the scents of your soap or shampoo and listen to the sound of the water as it flows over you. This is a simple way to pull your attention inwards and away from fear and despair.

  • Creativity is a powerful tool! Whether you pick up a paintbrush or Coloring Set , doing a project can calm your mind and lighten your heart at the same time.

If you haven’t done so, feel free to join our Closed Facebook Community, where you can talk through caregiving ideas or reach out for emotional support. We are a community focused on helping each other. We share a bit of inspiration through our Facebook Page as well. We are also adding in more Partners to our community, so if you are looking for a resource or know of someone/something you’d like for us to add, please reach out by email; inquiry@breathingpspacesfc.com.

Find your center, reach out, and know we are here for you, always.
